When Andrea and I lived in middle-of-nowhere Missouri, we whiled away many a weary hour playing this game as we drove back and forth from anywhere to anywhere else.
That’s what no one tells you about when it comes to living out in cow country–how long it takes to get anywhere. If you couldn’t do it in the town we lived in (Mexico, MO, since you asked), it was a 45 minute drive to Columbia. In fact, it was a 45 minute drive to just about anywhere from Mexico. (What a geographical oddity.)
I guess I shouldn’t complain. I have a cousin who teaches at the University of New Mexico, and apparently it’s a two-hour drive to get somewhere with a telephone, and even then you have to get on a list ahead of time to use it. No wonder so many pioneers went mad on the drive west.

Who’s going to get a Kim Novak reference? I fucking will. Me, right here.
I live in bumfuck-nowhere Maryland and this is certainly something that we do to pass the time. We do the same sort of thing with incomprehensible vanity plates, too.
(I also got the Kim Novak reference)
