Good morning, all. Luke here.
I want to thank you for stopping by. While the tables are set and the kitchen is running, we don’t have the sign out front yet, so, while I’m not sure how you found us, I thought I’d just introduce myself and the strip.
I’m a public relations practitioner by day, married to a lovely young animation major who has been no end of help to me on this project, in terms of both inspiration and design. Andrea’s my editor, my webmaster, and the one who smacks me in the back of the head when the work gets too pedestrian.
As for the strip itself, “Evil Arts and Crafts” is the name of an amateur production company, composed of a core group of five friends, four of whom you meet in this week’s strip. EA&C typically produces short video vignettes, some of which you’ll see in our “production strips,” which will pop up here and there. But the main focus is on Joe, Zara, Bronson, Dean, and Mel–their lives, their relationships, and their utter disdain for popular culture.
EA&C is sort of a mish-mash of a bunch of things I’ve been wanting to try creatively for a long time. There’s bits of a screenplay in here, parts of a half-aborted novel, and lots and lots of first-hand anecdotes about my circle of friends, many of whom will probably see far more of themselves in these little characters than they’ll like.
I’m sure I have a head-smack coming from Andrea for going on this long, so I’ll wrap up by saying, “Stop by every Thursday for more. Add us to your feed reader for updates. And thanks for coming!”
