Tip of the hat to my longtime e-friend Kim for today’s title. She quoted it at me the other day on Facebook, and I didn’t recognize it. So, I googled it and it seems it’s one of the many, many half-unintelligible lyrics from Gogol Bordello’s excellent “Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike” album. It’s stuck in my imagination ever since.
Whew! That brings the strip’s fourth arc to its triumphant conclusion. Like I mentioned Monday, this was a long-ass arc, but it never once felt like a chore. Half the time, it wrote itself. And while I enjoy longer stories and actual character arcs, I don’t want to make a regular diet of it. So, as soon as I get back from my two-week vacation, we’ll do a few one-and-done strips before getting into the meat of arc five, the penultimate arc of Evil Arts and Crafts Year 1.
In the meantime, Andrea’s going to take over the art and writing chores on the strip for a couple of weeks while I replenish the backlog of scripts and generally just recharge the ol’ batteries. It’s sort of a belated birthday present she’s giving me, and I’ll gladly take it.
So, before I shuffle offstage for a while, I just wanted to take one more opportunity to thank all of you who visit our little freakshow on a regular basis–by most accounts, we’re getting around 500 visits each strip at this point. As someone who grew up on a steady diet of comics, there’s absolutely nothing I’d rather be doing than this strip. I’m having a great time with it–thanks for hanging out with us each week. And spread the word!
Dosvidanya,
Luke
