So, wow! Yeah! Daybreakers! Ordinarily when you find a movie where the director, writer and special effects coordinator are all the same guy (or guys in this case), it’s a movie about an elevator that kills people because it was built from parts of the evillest tanks in Nazi Germany, or a flick with Swedish death metal stars standing in for the demons.
Not so in this case. This is an example of worldbuilding done right–that being, build the world and give the characters something to do in it that’s worth watching. There are some dull stretches, but even they have Sam Neill in them, so there’s something for everyone.
And incidentally, the scene Bronson describes in the strip happens about halfway through the film, and it’s just as awesome as it sounds. Clever stuff done well.
Have a great week now. Hope it’s warmer where you are than where we are. (In St. Louis, the Mississippi River looks like the Bering Strait. It’s amazing to behold.)
