So, I went back and re-read some of my movie reviews, and I gotta be straight with you, they suck. It’s for this reason that I’m grateful that my generation has effectively replaced the word “pretentious” with “douchey.” It sounds less intellectually damning.
So, after talking it over with Andrea, I’ve made a decision–I’m going to let the strip’s characters do the reviews for me. Starting Monday, we’re going to start running strips three times a week, with Monday’s post being a movie review, as told by Joe, Zara, Dean, Bronson and Mel.
There won’t be much by way of art (is there ever?), but at least I won’t feel the need to rattle off long-headed words about kids’ movies as though I knew what I was talking about.
So, it’s an experiment. We’ll see how it goes…we may end up back at two strips a week, or this might be what it takes to finally break me, and I’ll quit my job and start posting four strips a day until my fingers snap off like dry twigs.
